How much AI and X usage past your plan's allowances can be billed in a cycle, and what stops when it is reached.
Paid plans include an AI allowance each billing cycle. Social Growth and Social Scale also include some X usage each cycle. Otherwise X usage is billed from the first message. Usage past an allowance is billed on your next usage invoice, at cost plus a 30% processing fee.
A usage budget is the most that can be billed past an allowance in one billing cycle. AI and X each have their own. The budget counts what your invoice would show, processing fee included.
Your workspace's standard budgets come from the first paid plan it subscribes to:
| Plan | AI budget | X budget |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $25 | $10 |
| Pro | $75 | $25 |
| Business | $200 | $50 |
Your budgets are listed under Usage budgets on the Usage & Billing page, with how much of each you have used this cycle. The Free plan works differently: its AI allowance is a one-time amount and AI stops when it is used up.
When the AI budget is reached:
When the X budget is reached:
The owner, and managers and admins who turned on Limits, plan changes and payments email, get an email, and a notice appears at the top of the workspace. Usage is checked before each request, so whatever was already under way when a budget was reached still finishes. The cycle can end slightly over the budget by that amount, and it is billed as usual.
Reaching a budget does not affect other workspaces, and it does not change your plan, your seats or anything else you are billed for.
A stopped budget starts again by itself as soon as any of these happens:
The workspace owner and managers can set each budget on the Usage & Billing page, under Usage budgets, to any amount from $0 up to the workspace's maximum. Leave a budget blank to use your standard budget. A budget of $0 lets you use the whole allowance and stops that usage when the allowance runs out.
Your maximum starts at your standard budget. To go higher, contact us and we can raise your workspace's maximum. Raising it does not change your budget: set the new budget yourself, up to the new maximum.
Your budgets and your maximum stay as they are from one cycle to the next, and when you change plan, until you or we change them. If your maximum is ever lowered below your budget, your budget stays in force as it is; the lower maximum only limits the budget you set next.
